United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County: Celebrating 15 Years of Hunt With Giving

What started as a small business operated out of Will and Beth’s Washington, D.C. apartment in 2009 has grown into what we know as Hunt today. (Learn more about Hunt’s journey in our founders’ story.)

We can think of no better way to celebrate our 15th year in business than to share our good fortune with others!

This year, we’ve selected 15 charities to donate $1,000 each towards their mission, resulting in $15,000 total in gifts overall! Now, enough about us. Let’s talk about this month’s organization: United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County (UWOLC)!

About United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County

Kurt Brummett, executive director of UWOLC, with the Hunt team.

Originally founded as the United Fund in 1970, the foundation merged with the United Way network in 1975 to become the United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County. The foundation works to bring individuals, organizations, businesses and public entities together to create a positive difference in the lives of those in the Lafayette-Oxford-University (LOU) community.

From an education standpoint, UWOLC aims to help the youth reach their full potential with a focus on programs that help them achieve three goals: enter kindergarten prepared to learn, read at grade level and earn a high school degree. For income, the organization aims to promote financial stability and independence by focusing on programs that enable members to attain family-sustaining employment, create affordable housing and build savings. In regards to health, UWOLC seeks to improve people’s health by helping members achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles and supporting older adults and adults diagnosed with mental illness. From a basic needs view, they work to ensure community members have sufficient food, adequate shelter and disaster relief.

United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County will contribute the funds provided by Hunt to the 2024-2025 community investment process in an effort to continue growing the great programs mentioned above.

Kurt Brummett, executive director of UWOLC, said, “Accountability is at the heart of everything we do. We always seek to be accountable to our incredible supporters and partners - as well as our community as a whole - because we want to do all we can to help ensure the generous contributions we receive produce positive outcomes to the furthest extent possible given our finite amount of resources.”

We are honored to support such a wonderful organization and encourage you to learn more by visiting their website.
